Rolsen Electronics (Korea) and the joint-venture LG.PHILIPS Displays - the leader in manufacture of kinescope TV-sets in the world - have organized in Moscow the joint presentation of the series of new DigiSlim TV-sets on the basis of SuperSLIM kinescopes. The TV-sets with the kinescope shortened by 1/3 of its depth in Russia will be produced by Rolsen Electronic under its own brand name, using its own TV-sets assembly facilities.

The market of kinescope TV-set steadily decreasing all the last few years in 2004 has suddenly increased. It significantly surpassed the volume of production of plasma display panels and LCD TV-sets.  Notwithstanding the aggressive penetration to the market of plasma and LCD TV-sets they much less competitive on the quality (the contrast and the visual angle) in comparison with the traditional kinescope TV-sets. The design of new TV-set is more elegant due to the reduced size of kinescope. They have small dimensions and thus can be integrated in any interior.

According to the marketing survey of Rolsen Electronics and LG.PHILIPS Displays companies the main factors which determine the choice of the customer when buying a TV-set - size of the screen and the price. And here both companies see good prospects for promotion of their new products. 60% of all TV-sets in the world are sold at the price less than $250, 20% - less than $500, 11% - less than $1000 and 9% of TV-sets are sold at the price exceeding $1000. The latter ones are plasma, LCD TV and projection TV.

According to the Head of the Department of New Products of LG.PHILIPS Displays Mr. Jan van Knippenberg the company is planning to increase the width of the kinescope up to 20 cm in the nearest future.

As the Head of the Department of the Digital Technologies of Rolsen Electronics Mr. J.S.Yoon said the company plans to put on the market the first models of DigiSlim TV-set already in June of this year. At first these will be three modifications of 21-inch TV with the retail price in Russia $220. The price for the new models of TV with DigiSlim technology will be about 10-15% higher of the TV with standard kinescopes. A bit latter Rolsen Electronics plans to put on the market the TV-sets with diagonal of the screen 29 and 32 inches with in-built DVD. The price for the 32-inches model will be about $950. In total in the nearest future Rolsen Electronics plans to introduce to the market 32 models of TV-set of DigiSlim series. The specialists expect that depending on the diagonal of the screen the TV-sets of DigiSlim series will take from 50 to 100% of the total production of Rolsen Electronics to the end of 2005.
